The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
