Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
